History
The Maitland Black and White Committee began in 1956 with a committee of male members and Mr Frank Hector as it's Foundation President. It was disbanded in early 1961 and reformed later that year. The committee organised an auxiliary of 20 women, with which it worked until 1968, when the senior committee retired. This left the 20 women members as The Maitland Black and White Committee of the Royal Blind Society of NSW.
Maitland Black and White Committee meets once a month, to organise fundraising activities, to help support the work of Vision Australia (formerly known as the Royal Blind Society) providing assistance for vision impaired people, particularly in the Hunter Region.
